Psychological counselling for employees

Most modern companies regularly invest in Health Days, fruit in the workplace or team building. But they only address the performance of their people when it's too late.

Work is one of the central factors in our lives and has a big impact on what our day-to-day looks like. However, for most people, employment also represents one of the main sources of stress in our lives. Stress, burnout, a quiet loss of motivation, conflicts - all of these quietly accumulate. It destroys productivity, motivation and team culture.

Even though most companies say they care about people - why then do we so often see talent walking out the door? Because they only address the symptoms, not the causes. They don't address why people are truly dissatisfied, exhausted or why they don't feel safe to open up about their feelings. And that's a problem that can't be swept under the rug with the usual corporate benefits or team building.

But what if there is a prevention method that works?

For now, psychological counseling in the workplace is still seen as a higher-level benefit. But what difference would it make in a company if every employee had access to anonymous, professional and safe support whenever they needed it?

Such counselling is not about your employees being 'weak'. It's proof that you genuinely care about them. And that you know that any business is only as strong as its people are strong and happy.

Do you want your company to become a place where employees want to stay ? Start by giving them the support they really need. It's an investment that will pay off faster than you think. Let's not forget that a company is built on people. People stand for psychological well-being. And silence that causes distress, anxiety or burnout in companies is extremely expensive.

Ideally, psychological counselling should be preceded by an Employer Psychological Stress Analysis as a component of the Occupational Health Service. Define the most commonly occurring stressors for the whole organisation as well as for individual departments and focus on the relationship between workload and employee health.

Employers should do all they can to ensure the health, safety and well-being of their employees.
